Christmas Visit To Precious Home

23 December 2009 No Comment
There are 2 perspectives – Jui Jien from the younger end…Four cars filled with bright-smiley-face people, freshly prepared food, and lovingly hand picked gifts drove to Sg Petani early Saturday morning to share the Christmas cheer with children of Precious Home. This is one of the visits organized by the Social Concerns Ministry of our church.

When we arrived, we were greeted by Ps Debra and happy children dressed in bright yellow shirts. We started off by singing a few Christmas carols and an ‘animal song’ (My God is so big). Each group had to take turns to imitate an animal as we sang the song. Everyone had a good laugh watching each other make funny sounds and actions.

Then Ps Debra shared on how she has been managing the home and church thus far. She feels grateful and comforted when groups like us visit them. Even though she is still struggling and learning how to manage these two places, she has peace in her heart as she allows God to lead the way. Her children and a caretaker help her run the home. Ps Debra is trusting God in supplying all their needs.

The next activity saw the children eagerly lining up as they receive gifts that we brought. The Social Concerns Ministry gave them school supplies and a group from Full Gospel Church gave them each a goody bag. Love gifts were also given to Ps Debra and the care taker.

Our tummies were a little hungry by then. So we had lunch together while getting to know each other better. Some of the children were quite shy but they slowly warmed up and got more comfortable when we brought out toys to play. Young and old, we played together.

After a good time of sharing, playing, and fellowship, it was time for us to leave. We sang “We wish you a Merry Christmas’ and took a few group photos. Then, we said our Good Byes. We thank God for the good weather and the good time we had.

……and from Uncle Siva….

The trip started at 10.00am. There were 18 of us gathered at the parsonage for this event. The chairman, Bro Yeoh Ti Pheng gave a short briefing before we started.  We went in four cars and everyone reached safely at the home by 10.45am.

We sang praises led by Mrs Chua and Ms Jui Jien. After the singing Pastor Debra shared with us about the work at the home and her church. She admitted it was tough and sometimes she did not know what to say or how to say what needed to be said. She prayed about it and said she asked for guidance from God to manage the Home. “Praise the Lord!” she said for He has never failed her. She also thanked the Wesley Methodist Church for supporting her in cash and in kind.

Then came the time for giving. There were gifts and Christmas presents for the children and the workers  from church members.  Pastor Debra was also blessed with gifts of cash from the church, individuals and care groups.

Finally, it was time to appreciate Mrs. Chua’s cooking.  Of course everyone did justice to the food (finger-licking good). We left the home at around 12.30pm and had a safe journey back home.

Luke: 6:38: Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.
